Never place a halogen floor lamp where it could
come in contact with draperies,
clothing or
other combustible materials.

Never use halogen torchiere lamps in children’s bedrooms
or playrooms.

Make sure you have ground fault circuit interrupters
(GFCI) on electrical outlets near water
(i.e. - in bathrooms, kitchens, etc.).

Replace all frayed, cracked or cut power cords.

Extension cords are only for temporary use.

Do not place power cords under carpets, rugs or
furniture.

Make sure appliances are off before connecting their cords to
outlets.

Avoid overloading outlets with too many appliances.

If an outlet or switch wall plate is hot to the touch
or discolored by heat buildup, immediately shut off the circuit. Have
it professionally checked by a licensed electrician.
If you need electrical work – always hire a
licensed electrical
contractor and get the proper
permits.
